The holiday season is among us which means you can expect 3 things: presents, parties, and oh yeah…proposals.
According to Wedding Wire magazine, among the top 10 days of the year to get engaged include Christmas Day, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day, New Year’s Eve, the Saturday BEFORE Christmas Eve, and Two Saturdays BEFORE Christmas Eve.
If you follow the logic, that means that within a roughly 20 day period, it accounts for a LARGE percentage of engagements for the entire year. If you’re among the lucky few to get engaged in this time period, I thought I’d share a few pointers that no one is talking about.
Book Your Wedding Venue ASAP
Supply and demand means you’ve got to jump on booking your wedding venue. If you’re looking for Los Angeles Wedding Venues, I have a guide here on luxury wedding venues in Southern California. Many grooms and brides wait until the holiday fanfare is over before setting their sights on any wedding planning.
The problem with that? So is everyone else and therefore all the best days (read: a Husker bye) are snatched up. Several others will start booking their wedding come January so I highly suggest that you call even before the year is over.
If you’re hoping to save a little change by booking a reception venue on a Friday or you wanted a popular wedding hall, then get first dibs by calling before January.
Book Your Wedding Photographer ASAP
Much like wedding venues, finding a wedding photographer is as important because all the good ones fill up fast. For Heartstring Weddings, I usually seek an uptick in customer inquiries around January for the very reasons mentioned above. As such, I’m only able to accommodate those who inquire first.
Start researching various photographers, ask for referrals, and by all means, make sure to get references from previous clients. I highly recommend that you solicit those yourselves by looking through Google reviews, Facebook reviews, etc.

Secret Hint: When photographers think to raise rates, they usually justify changing it at the beginning of the following year. Get yesterday rates, with tomorrow’s skillset by calling first.

Get giddy to start using the terms fiancee/fiance
